This is a short current events lesson designed to create discussion about The Affordable Care Act, more commonly known as Obamacare. Created on 28 September 2013, this lesson focuses on the Congressional debate over legislation that would de-fund Obamacare, but would avert a government shutdown.

1) PowerPoint Slideshow - lists background information, includes a link to the news story video, and guides the teacher through the discussion.
2) Student Worksheet - students answer the Who, What, Where, When, and Why questions and they brainstorm the pros and cons of de-funding Obamacare. This information can then be used to spark discussion and debate.
